The Lighthouse Inn is a first class hotel located in a pleasant neighborhood on the south shore of New London, Connecticut. Situated 10 miles from Groton-New London Airport, this Mediterranean style mansion is an American Classic. In 1902 steel magnate Charles S. Guthrie built his country home overlooking Long Island Sound and called it Meadow Court after the wildflowers, which surrounded it. The famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Central Park in New York, designed the 4.5-acre grounds. Meadow Court became a focal point for society events and a retreat for film stars including Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Since 1928, this magnificent estate has been home to the Lighthouse Inn. The Inn has completed a $1 million dollar renovation to all guestrooms and public space. Completely restored, the Inn has earned wide acclaim for perpetuating the opulence of a landmark mansion. Each room is unique with glorious antiques and breathtaking views of Long Island Sound or Meadow Court. All rooms also feature many of the comforts and modern conveniences of home. The Lighthouse Inn also offers access to a private beach. Guests will enjoy a complimentary breakfast daily. From Bradley International - take 91 South to 84 East to Route 2 South; then take Routell South to 85 East to Coleman St, turn right on Coleman St. left on Bank St., Right on Montauk Ave, right on Pequot Ave and right onto Guthrie Place.
